In the present article the authors attempt to analyze the households of the Russian-speaking polyamory community for the first time, with the focus on family economy and domestic labor. Study was based on the hypothesis about the probable deviation of economic processes and behavior of members in a polyamory union. Meanwhile polyamory unions ’ internal structure should assume a specific distribution of household functions and the corresponding movement of resources. Taking into account the written above the main purpose of this study was to identify the similarities and differences between the family economy and domestic labor between polyamory and monogamous-nuclear families. Using the survey among representatives ofpolyamory unions, the following variables were analyzed: the main characteristics of the household and its ’ members; household budgets ’formulation and expenditure ways; structure offamily budget; distribution forms and functional duties in the household; various kinds of difficulties in housekeeping; personal vision of the respondents, differences between the polyamory and the monogamous-nuclear methods of housekeeping. Along with this, the authors paid in depth attention to research of gender differentiation within the distribution of household functions and market activity of polyamory unions ’ members.
