Software-defined radio (SDR) is a radio communication device where components that have been traditionally implemented in hardware (e.g. mixers, filters, amplifiers, etc.) are instead implemented by means of software on a personal computer or embedded system. A software radio can be programmed to acquire data from GPS satellites. This paper describes the implementation of GPS signals acquisition method performed by the fast Fourier transform (FFT). A set of non-real time raw GPS data on the L1 carrier was received by a SDR device. Post processing of received data was done using MATLAB.
