В монографии освещены современные представления о происхождении, популяционном составе и функциях макрофагов, играющих принципиально важную роль в формировании и прогрессии злокачественных опухолей. Представлены последние сведения о роли новых регуляторных молекул опухолеассоциированных макрофагов (ОАМ) – хитиназоподобных белков, экспериментальные и клинические данные об их вкладе в опухолевую прогрессию. Приведены новые сведения о взаимодействии ОАМ с различными типами терапии опухолей (таргетной, антиангиогенной, радиотерапией, химиотерапией), обсуждаются перспективы использования новых молекулярных мишеней и процессов для целенаправленного управления широким спектром макрофагальных функций с целью снижения риска опухолевой прогрессии, возможности использования новых молекулярных механизмов ОАМ в программировании противоопухолевого иммунитета, а также вопросы многофункциональности ОАМ, локализованных во внутриопухолевых компартментах, различающихся по соотношению паренхиматозно-стромально-воспалительных компонентов.
