The possibility of synthesis of copper (I, II) and silver (I) organic complexes with a polydentate ligand has been shown. The synthesized compounds were investigated using IR spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescence analysis. During the analysis, a feature of the formation of transition metal complexes was established. It was found that silver and copper ions (Ag+, Cu+) with 2-mercaptonicotinic acid interact to form the M-S bond. Cu2 + ions interact with the same acid to form N-Cu-S bonds, i.e. with the formation of a chelate complex.
