Description: Similarities and differences in taxonomic composition, morphological diversity and relationships between taxa are observed among fossil and recent beetles of the Melyridae lineage families. Fossil forms provide the only reliable evidence of the evolutionary development of organisms and the emergence of forms adapted to existing ecosystems. In Melyridae lineage families, the leading determinative characters of taxa are taken from males, determining the specificity of identification. Due to the limited informativeness of fossil remains, working with them requires a special approach. Features must be selected and analysed correctly to reflect the real picture of Melyridae lineage evolution rather than an imaginary one.
