Монография представляет коллективный опыт осмысления роли и значения личности и творчества Вальтера Скотта в разных гранях мировой культуры. Основной материал исследования составляет художественная словесность – русская и английская, – на примере которой оказывается видна органичная и гармоничная включенность гения "шотландского чародея" в эстетическое сознание и творческую ткань его младших современников и литературных наследников уже нашего времени. Отдельное внимание уделено аспектам присутствия Вальтера Скотта в эпистолярии, критике, оперном искусстве. В работе раскрываются новые аспекты русско-европейской "скоттианы", в том числе через обращение к ранее неизвестным архивным материалам.
