Языковая репрезентация важнейших культурно значимых этических понятий находится в сфере интересов современного языкознания. Представлена история формирования понятия «покорный, подчиняющийся во всем, послушный» в русинском языке. Данное понятие выражают три русинских прилагательных – две однокоренные лексемы покорный, покорливый и резiгнованый. Сравнительно-исторический и лингвогеографический анализ указанного синонимического ряда позволил выявить, что данное языковое выражение исследуемого понятия либо унаследовано из древнерусского лексического фонда (покорный), либо является церковнославянизмом (покорливый), либо заимствовано из польского языка (резiгнованый). Понятие «покорный» в русинском языке изменилось в связи с развитием общества, что представлено в переходе к новым социальным отношениям. Унаследованное из древнерусского прилагательное покорный выражает насильственный отказ от прав вследствие силового воздействия, покорения; церковнославянизм покорливый выражает активное свойство, покорность, отказ по своей воле, заимствованный из западноевропейских языков адъектив резiгнованый – уже добровольный отказ от своих прав, отражающий другое основание покорности.
