В рецензии дается оценка вышедшей в 2020 г. монографии известного специалиста- ближневосточника А. Д. Эпштейна. В этой работе автор ставит ряд фунда-ментальных вопросов о природе израильско- египетских отношений, в том числе причи-нах Суэцкого кризиса, Шестидневной вой ны и о других эпизодах, которые до сих пор вызывают широкий интерес историков. Автор представляет свое видение наиболее не-однозначных страниц арабо-и зраильского конфликта с опорой на широкий круг источ-ников, особенно мемуары. В монографии показана не только политическая, но и военная история отношений Израиля и Египта в наиболее драматический, наполненный военными столкновениями период первой четверти с момента образования еврейского государства. Автор выходит в процессе повествования на более широкие сюжеты, связанные с исто-рией холодной вой ной, деколонизацией, НАТО, выстраиванием политики на Ближнем Востоке вчерашних новичков в ближневосточных делах – СССР и США – в короткие сро-ки после Второй мировой вой ны ставших заметными игроками в регионе. Содержание монографии, ее исследовательские подходы также вносят вклад в понимание и развитие такой субдисциплины как «политическая психология».
