The presenter proceeds from the problem that Valentin Rasputin, as the author of the best literary work about the Great Patriotic war (“Live and Remember”, in the assessment of Viktor Astafyev), is rarely and cautiously speaks about the war directly, in the rhetorical discourse of publicism. Using the material of publicistic works of the late period of creativity, we can not only understand the reasons for this omission, but also reconstruct the author’s concept of war (ideas about the relationship of the individual, nation and state in the war, the historical fate of the people, the foundations of Victory, the nature and meaning of memory, which are an important part of the writer’s worldview).
