В статье рассматриваются особенности Испании как страны массовой иммиграции на рубеже XX–XXI вв. На фоне большинства других европейских государств, принимающих на своей территории многочисленных «трудовых» иммигрантов и беженцев, испанское общество выделяется высоким уровнем лояльности и солидарности по отношению к приезжим. Такая позиция, как и ее устойчивость на протяжении последних десятилетий, представляется многим исследователям необычной и даже аномальной, поскольку противоречит целому ряду объективных факторов и обстоятельств. Автор, на основании данных исследований испанских коллег, материалов испанских СМИ и собственных полевых наблюдений, показывает, что преобладающее в испанском обществе и кажущееся нелогичным отношение к массовой иммиграции (в частности к так называемому европейскому миграционному кризису 2015 г.) определяется главным образом доминирующей в стране идеологией. Содержание этой идеологии и высокая степень ее влияния на общественное сознание стали следствием уникальных по значению событий в развитии страны, означавших переход из одной эпохи ее истории в другую.
