В статье анализируется новаторский режиссёрский подход Петера Шароффа (Пётр Шаров), который в первой половине XX века успешно ставил русскую классику на европейской сцене, сочетая методы К. С. Станиславского, В. Э. Мейерхольда и Е. Б. Вахтангова. Отмечается, что своим творчеством Шарофф содействовал адекватному восприятию за рубежом русской драматургии, а также развитию и обновлению театральной эстетики Италии и Германии.
