The results of investigation of microstructure, phase composition, mechanical properties (microhardness) of bioinert binary alloys − low-modulus Ti-40 wt.%Nb (Ti40Nb) and 1 wt.% niobium-alloyed zirconium (Zr1Nb) in ultrafine-grained state are represented. The ultrafine-grained structure was produced by two-stage severe plastic deformation (SPD) method, which included the multiple abc-pressing and multi-pass rolling in grooved rolls and further pre-recrystallizing low-temperature annealing. The ultrafine-grained structure with average structural elements size of 0.32 μm for Ti40Nb and 0,25 μm for Zr1Nb are formed in alloys as a result of SPD. Ultrafine-grained structure provides high level of mechanical properties (microhardness) while elastic modulus initial level retains.
