In this work, the viscoelastic behavior of TiNi wire with a thickness of 60 micrometers and a knitted TiNi mesh was assessed using the uniaxial tension method in order to develop general biomechanical criteria for the selection of superelastic implants. When comparing the obtained deformation diagrams for superelastic wire and knitted TiNi mesh, it was established that the tensely-coupled construction of knitted TiNi mesh limits the manifestation of the superelasticity, inherent in the wire. The knitted TiNi mesh made of superelastic wire exhibits rubber-like behavior inherent in hyperelastic materials and soft biological tissues.
